A product render of a solid oak platform bed with an integrated headboard ledge, styled with a patterned quilted coverlet and textured pillows for a bedding range. The setting is a bright apartment bedroom with a sage tongue-and-groove wall, oak side tables and a wide city view. The commercial job here is the textile: quilting relief, coverlet drape over the mattress edge and pillow compression all have to be believable at catalogue crop, since that is what the customer is actually buying.

[ 04 ] How it was made
The technical problem.
For a bedding range the textile is the product, so that is where the time went. The quilted coverlet needed real stitch relief and correct drape over the mattress edge, including the way the quilting pattern distorts as the fabric turns the corner — a flat displacement map cannot do that and the result always looks like printed cloth. Pillows were simulated with genuine compression rather than modelled as plump cushions, because a pillow that has never been leaned on reads as fake at catalogue crop. The oak bed frame carries visible joinery at the headboard ledge and correct grain continuity around the corners. Behind it, the sage tongue-and-groove wall and the city view were kept deliberately quiet in contrast and colour so nothing competes with the bedding for attention.
